    Sentencing:

    Minnesota Sentencing Guidelines and Commentary

    Federal Sentencing Guidelines.  These are published as part of Title 18 of the United States Code. The Guidelines are also published in The Federal Sentencing Guidelines Manual. The current edition of the Manual and previous editions back to 1994 are posted on the Internet by the U.S. Sentencing Commission (www.ussc.gov), along with any subsequent amendments. The Guidelines are on Westlaw in the Federal Sentencing Guidelines (FCJ-FSG) database and on Lexis as USCS Federal Sentencing Guidelines.

    Jury instructions

    For Minnesota civil jury instructions, see volumes 4 & 4A of the Minnesota Practice Series (green books).  These are on Westlaw as MN-JICIV.

    For federal jury instructions, see Federal Jury Practice and Instructions: Jury Trial (on Westlaw as FED-JICIV).  This includes the 8th Circuit Manual of Model Civil Jury Instructions.  Or use Modern Federal Jury Instructions (on Lexis as Modern Federal Jury Instructions -Civil).

    Rules of evidence

    The Minnesota Rules of Evidence are contained the Minnesota Statutes Annotated.  You can also get them on Lexis as Minnesota State & Federal Court Rules, or on Westlaw as MN-RULES.  (Westlaw also includes them in its MN-ST-ANN database.)
